BREAKOUT SESSION: Becoming a Person of Influence
PRESENTER: Brent Kelly
DESCRIPTION: Becoming a Person of Influence is a foundation workshop for anyone who aspires to grow as a leader and gain influence. The workshop spells out ten fundamental qualities that define influential people. Brent will carefully point out that a person's influence does not develop overnight, but rather through a progression of four stages: modeling, motivating, mentoring, and multiplying. Influence can be acquired, but it only grows in increments. The good news is that no matter where you stand on the stairway of influence, there are qualities you can learn to help you climb to the next step.
Whatever your title or position, you can increase your impact on others by becoming a Person of Influence. Learn simple, insightful ways to interact more positively with others, and watch your personal and organizational success go off the charts. Managers will see their employees respond with new enthusiasm, leaders will gain more influence with their team, and salespeople will break records.

Technology is a tidal wave that will swamp you, your team, and your company if you don't start paying more attention. You should be chasing technology - every day. It should take hold of your mind and foster a sense of urgency. You should continuously have highly prioritized technology items on your "must do" list.
The next five years of technology advancement will make the last ten years look like a walk in the park. All companies are chasing "millennial technology" - nothing new there. It is time to put that old chestnut to rest. Start chasing 2025, or 2030, technology right now and you will find a way to prosper and grow.
We will examine the latest trends inside and outside the industry. We will talk about strategies to bring the technology horizon closer to us, enabling action. We will begin to formulate a plan. We will stop thinking about technology as being done "to us," but rather what it can do "for us!"

WALKING RISK MANAGEMENT TOUR (2 CE)
PRESENTER: Todd Davis
DESCRIPTION: This class will examine the exposures presented in a building. It will begin with a brief review of risk, exposures, and risk management techniques. Then, students will tour the various places throughout the building and take a firsthand look at what exposures are present. This will give the producer a firsthand experience of looking at a risk and training them through a visual experience instead of reading out of a textbook.

NAVIGATING MEDICARE (2 CE)
PRESENTERS: Keenan Jones & Alisa Allen, WPS
DESCRIPTION: By the end of this lesson, trainees will have developed enhanced knowledge about the Medicare Program, identify what is covered, discuss Medigap plans including cost-sharing plans, review when to enroll in Medicare and learn about when it is appropriate to delay Medicare enrollment, and understand the importance of timely enrollment in Medicare and review late enrollment penalties. This course will explore some of the complexities in the Medicare system and how to address them.

David Spade Live!
Nominated in 1999 for an Emmy Award for his memorable role as Dennis Finch, the wise‐cracking, power‐hungry assistant on “Just Shoot Me,” David Spade became a household favorite during his five‐year stint as a cast member of NBC’s “Saturday Night Live.” The comedian was also nominated for a Golden Globe in 2000 and an American Comedy Award in 1999 for his work on NBC’s “Just Shoot Me”.
On the big screen, Spade continues to be a box office draw. He was recently seen in Sony Pictures’ GROWN UPS 2 alongside Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, and Kevin James. The film is a follow up to the 2010 hit comedy about a group of childhood friends who reunite years later. Both movies were a financial success, each earning over $200 million dollars worldwide at the box office.
On the small screen, Spade previously starred in the CBS comedy “Rules of Engagement”, which ran for seven seasons from 2007 through 2013. The show was produced by Sony’s Happy Madison Productions and centered around three men in different stages of their relationships: married, engaged, and single. The half hour situational comedy starred Spade as a content bachelor and serial dater and enjoyed excellent ratings and critical success throughout all seven seasons.
In 2012, Spade was heard as the voice of the ‘Griffin invisible man’ in the animated feature, HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA alongside Adam Sandler, Selena Gomez, Steve Buscemi, Kevin James, and Andy Samberg, among others. He will reprise his role in the film’s sequel, HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA 2, which will release on September 25, 2015.
Other popular film credits include Sony Pictures’ BENCHWARMERS and Paramount Pictures’ DICKIE ROBERTS: FORMER CHILD STAR, the latter which he co‐wrote with Fred Wolf. Both opened #1 at the box official and enjoyed both critical and commercial success. Spade also co‐starred with SNL alumnus Chris Farley in the films TOMMY BOY and BLACKSHEEP, the former for which the pair won a 1996 MTV Movie Award for ‘Best On‐Screen Duo’. He has also appeared in REALITY BITES, LIGHT SLEEPER, CONEHEADS, and LOST & FOUND, that latter for which he also co‐wrote the screenplay.
Born in Birmingham, Michigan, and raised in Scottsdale, Arizona, Spade began his career by performing stand‐up comedy in clubs, theaters and colleges across the country. He made his television debut on SNL and was soon after named the “Hot Stand‐Up Comedian of the Year” by Rolling Stone magazine. As a writer and a performer on SNL for five years, he is best known for his memorable characters including the sarcastic “Hollywood Minute” reporter on “Weekend Update” and catch phrases like “And you are…?” and “Buh‐Bye!”

KEVIN FARLEY frequents numerous comedy clubs around the country. He is a regular at notable venues such as The Laugh Factory in LA and Chicago, The Improv in LA and Palm Beach, Florida and The Comedy Store. Farley studied at the famous Second City in Chicago and then soon after starred in films such as Black Sheep (with his brother Chris Farley) and The Waterboy with Adam Sandler, and leading roles in An American Carol, White Knight just to name a few. His TV guest appearances have been on Curb Your Enthusiasm, Rules of Engagement, The Neighbors, Hot in Cleveland, Just Shoot Me, United States of Tara, True Jackson, VP, Hawaii Five-O, to name a few, and including HA! The Musical in New York. In addition, Farley has hosted many live shows and has been featured on The Today Show, The View, Extra, Fox News and numerous radio shows. Kevin currently stars on the CMT sitcom Still the King, and appears on the animated Netflix series F is for Family.
KEYNOTE SPEAKER: P. ARtell Smith
Paul Artell Smith (Artell) has nearly 30 years of experience in all facets of human resources management and has worked for four industry leaders during his career, including ExxonMobil (Houston & Dallas), Fidelity Investments (Salt Lake City, Cincinnati & Boston), Hewitt Associates (Lincolnshire), and Aon plc (Chicago).
Artell is Adjunct Faculty at the University of Wisconsin—Madison, School of Business, Center for Professional & Executive Development. He teaches in a variety of programs, including manager, leader and executive development. Artell works with a variety of large clients who require customized programs that align with their commercial objectives. Artell is also currently CEO of two entrepreneurial ventures. The first is WatchWorks Management Consulting LLC, an HR consultancy specializing in leader & manager development, HR operations & practices, employee relations, and curriculum design & development. The second is CUPSAFE LLC, a designer and manufacturer of casual dining accessories. Artell is party to several patents in this area and is actively bringing products to market. Artell earned his Master of Public Administration degree from Brigham Young University’s Graduate School of Management. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science also from BYU.
Brent Kelly is the CEO and co-founder of BizzGrizz Training. He builds insurance sales leaders by teaching agents how to stand up, stand tall, and stand out.
Brent was named one of the top 12 young insurance agents in the United States in 2012 by Agent & Broker magazine and contributes to publications such as Insurance Business America, IA Magazine, Insurance Thought Leadership, Agency Nation, and Property Casualty 360.

Josh Johanningmeier is the IIAW's General Counsel. He is a shareholder in Godfrey & Kahn's Insurance Practice Group where his practice includes litigation and consulting regarding insurance company insolvency and insurance guaranty funds, as well as representation of insurance companies and agents before state regulators, including the Wisconsin Office of the Commissioner of Insurance.
Josh is a member of the NCIGF and NOLHGA, as well as the Defense Research Institute and the Litigation and Products Liability Sections of the American Bar Association. He received his B.A. from Luther College, his M.A. from Iowa State University, and his J.D., with high distinction, from the University of Iowa.
Ryan Hanley is the SVP of Marketing for TrustedChoice.com and Editor-in-Chief of Agency Nation. Ryan has been teaching the business of inbound and content marketing to the insurance industry for over ten years.
Ryan is co-host of the Agency Nation Radio podcast and author of Amazon bestseller, Content Warfare: How to find your audience, tell your story and win the battle for attention online.
Charlie Kingdollar is a Vice President and leads General Re's emerging issues unit contained in the Global Product Support Division of General Reinsurance. Having been with the group for 37 years, he is responsible for tracking and analyzing developments that create new or changing exposures, and assessing their potential impact on Property & Casualty insurance industry. He regularly consults with clients on both the impact of emerging issues and the underwriting actions insurers may wish to implement to address these exposures. Charlie reports these legal, scientific, and societal developments in a variety of Gen Re publications.
David has more than 38 years of health plan administration experience. David has held management positions in claims, customer service, enrollment, provider contracting, marketing and sales. David gained his experience through employment at two major insurance companies, a Pharmacy Benefit Manager, and a large independent insurance agency.
David’s undergraduate degree is in Business Administration and Finance from Marquette University, he also holds a Certificate in Sales Management from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, and is a graduate of the Certified Health Care Consultant (CHC) program at Purdue University and is a Registered Health Underwriter (RHU) and a Chartered Healthcare Consultant (ChHC) completing the courses of study from The American University in Pennsylvania.
Todd is the owner and operator of the Davis Agency Insurance in Peoria. Todd was licensed and started his insurance career at age 15 by working for the family agency in the office. After attending Bradley University, with a major in Mechanical Engineering (later returning for a degree in Marketing and Public Relations), Todd re-entered the family agency with his father. In 1985, Todd became a partner and then purchased the agency in 1992.
Teaching activities include classes in Illinois, Iowa, South Dakota, North Dakota, Wisconsin, Ohio, and Minnesota for organizations including the Independent Insurance Agents of Illinois (IIA of Illinois) and the Independent Insurance agents of Wisconsin (IIAW).
AARON ANTHONY - AFLAC
Aaron is a standout sales strategist that brings a unique perspective to the insurance market. Married with 3 boys and a standout scholar athlete graduating from the University of Georgia, Aaron brings 18 years of industry experience to the table. He specializes in strategic placement of VB in fields such as Property & Casualty, Financial and Employee Benefits. His career has gone from door to door sales to managing large sales teams and agencies. As a thought leader, his understanding of the marketplace and ability to develop risk management strategies places him among the top in his field. From being published to consulting in firms of all sizes, Aaron’s proven methods are working for clients across the entire U.S. to increase benefits, reduce cost, reduce risk/exposure and increase revenue and retention for the clients and brokers he partners with. Within a rapidly changing market, there is an overwhelming need to stay both relevant and creative. JAN ROBINSON - AFLAC
Jan started her career in the insurance industry in 1997 with AFLAC in Nebraska. She was a District Sales Manager and a Regional Sales Manager for most of her career. As a “rookie” Jan received all possible first year awards, including the coveted “Triple Crown” making her amongst the top AFLAC representatives nationally. She continued as a top AFLAC representative and manager and was able to qualify for many AFLAC incentive trips both state and nationally. While in Nebraska, she was very involved with the Association of Health Underwriters. She was elected to the Lincoln Board of Health Underwriters as the Award Chair for four years and then offeredthe opportunity for the secretary position for Nebraska State Board of Health Underwriters prior to moving to Texas to work as a Regional Sales Manager for AFLAC. Jan also spent three years as the Territory Manager for the Missouri and Illinois areas, for Colonial, where she was able to increase sales and as a top producer, qualified for their incentive trip. After her stint at Colonial, she joined the corporate AFLAC Broker Channel to build broker relationships and increase AFLAC’s footprint. In her current role, she does this by providing solutions to increase revenue in brokerage agencies with a strategy involving an onsite voluntary benefits specialist. Sales have increased in this Channel from 9 million its first year to over 60 million in the last six years.
She has been married to her husband Butch for 21 years; has one daughter, a son-in-law, and a wonderful 7 year old grandson. She enjoys running 5k's, 10k’s and has completed two 1/2 marathons and enjoys traveling which makes this career perfect.
BRIAN DAY - AFLAC
Brian Day is the Public Sector Director with Aflac. Through this position he develops cost containment strategies through benefit administration, employee education and engagement for the Public Sector industry. Prior to this position Brian served as the Aflac Market Director for Ohio West since September 1987. He was responsible for the over- all sales growth and retention strategies. He served as a coordinator, coach, and mentor as he motivated and recruited talented associates and coordinators to develop the business-to-business marketing and service of Aflac voluntary benefits or services to employers, employees and brokers for 29 years.
Brian is married to his beautiful wife Amanda and has 5 kids. On his spare time he enjoys golfing, hunting and anywhere near a body of water.
SHAWN McDERMOTT - AFLAC
Shawn McDermott, Senior Manager, Broker Sales Effectiveness began his service with Aflac in 2008 as a Broker Development Coordinator in Ohio West. Shawn was able to partner with his leadership team to effectively grow the broker channel in Ohio West while continuing to support the Aflac Field force. During his time with Aflac Shawn is a 2 time National Convention qualifier and has been in the top ten of broker production 3 different years. Prior to joining Aflac Shawn was a Account Manager with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Ohio for eight years supporting their small group renewal team and ancillary sales efforts.
